Joomla is a Content Management System (CMS). joomla_logoA content management system is piece of software, which sits behind your website and essentially acts as a control panel for your site. Here you can add pages, edit text, upload images, manage links etc with just a few clicks of a mouse.
Additionally, Joomla has many features available such as news modules, polls, user login and registration modules etc. If the standard Joomla features are not enough you have a plethora of plugins available at your finger tips such as shopping carts, animated menu systems, images galleries etc.
As im sure you can imagine Content Management Systems such as Joomla have revolutionised website development in many ways.

Which Website?

OK. So you want to have a website built. The question is which website?

There are of course different technologies for different purposes. If you looking for a small website, perhaps a few pages with some text and images then a good option might to use a simple content management system like Wordpress. Wordpress is very good for basic sites but it not as powerful or extensible a content management systems like Joomla and Drupal.
