Rocket theme's revolutionary Gantry Framework

After hearing much about Rocket theme's gantry framework I thought I would install one of their free templates Quasar and see what all the fuss was about. After looking at some of the parameters in the template manager I was immediately excited about the possibilities this framework had to offer.

So what is the Gantry Framework?

In it's simplest form the gantry framework is a framework which allows you to edit certain parameters of your Joomla template via an intuitive interface. The framework cleverly utilises the 960 grid system, which allows for a flexible yet robust implementation of the CMS.

• You can select from a variety of pre-set styles
• There are sliders which determine the website layout. With these sliders you can adjust the size and amount of module positions in place, as well as the opacity of background and body elements of the page.
• There are several controls where you can adjust the typography of the site such as the font, font size, link colour etc.
• There are various display options for things like the logo, date and time, copyright info, system messages etc.
• There are also lots of advanced parameters relating to compression, caching, RTL support etc.

Another feature, which I was excited about was the fact that you can select a different menu and very quickly apply different settings to different pages. Great!

Without even scratching the surface of the Gantry framework you can already see the level of flexibility this framework provides.

I will continue to review the Gantry framework as well as taking a detailed look at some of Rocket theme's commercial templates.
